Curry Surprise

I was sitting in my office innocently minding my own business trying to resolve series vs. set issues on a book I was cataloging when I began to notice a strange aroma wafting in from the break area. I puzzled over the smell and whether it was a good food smell or the bad smell of something else when one of co-workers came to my door and mentioned she had made curry and was offering to anybody who wanted some. Apparently she had made it for an international potluck that turned out to be a catered meal. It was a yellow curry with peaches, chicken, and rice. It was pretty good stuff and I don't like peaches. As almost everyone who tried some noted it was especially good on a Friday. On Friday morning we have a staff break at 10 a.m. Someone brings food each week (I usually bring Einstein Bros.' bagels) and we hang out and eat for about 1/2 an hour. This week we had two breaks, the one at 10 which was pretty good strawberry bread and a sausage and egg dish kind of like a quiche and then the curry break at noon. It was a good day.

Millions of peaches, peaches for me. Millions of peaches, peaches for free.

Was it as good as Daniel's curries? Can you get her recipe for the blog? Love you--and I cannot believe you ate peaches.

Probably not, because of the peaches. Also the rice was stickier than I prefer and than Aniel's made when I'm around. I was a little surprised that I ate them as well but you couldn't taste them much through the rest of the flavor and they didn't have much texture. I'll see about getting a recipe. I wondered if someone would ask.

Okay y'all, I have never to my knowledge anyway, eaten curry. How do I make it? And if you can't get an ingredient at walmart, where do you get it??

Tara, much of it you can get at Wal-Mart. There are lots of different kinds of curry recipes, many not even containing an ingredient named "curry." You can buy something called "curry powder," which is a mix of spices. But it's sometimes better to measure out the spices individually so you know what you're putting in there. Anyway, I'll go ahead and put a little something on the recipe blog. (My husband is from India, so we eat curry almost every day.)

Sounds Yummy!!! I like Daniel's curry, even though spicy food makes my eyes water--even the least bit spicy. Its worth the watering. Not right now, though, with Cora--she can't take the spicy stuff I eat.

Anyway, I thought this was going to be a HUGE surprise, like Ann and Daniel surprising you at work with lunch. That would be MAJOR!!!

Love you, Bro!
