Snow and a Clean(er) Room

It snowed here yesterday. It may snow again later today. If I recall correctly in my four years of college in Minnesota it never snowed noticeably this early in the year (though they've probably got snow now). It got real cold (cold enough to make your teeth hurt) and flurried the third weekend of October '91, and of course it snowed three feet on Halloween that year, but yesterday still felt unique. It even stuck yesterday for an hour or so before it melted. It was a pretty morning.

I took yesterday off to stay home and do some cleaning. I've been frustrated for a while with the state of my bedroom but haven't felt like I've had the time to do anything about it. Of course if I read Flylady I'd know that I had the time, but I don't so I didn't. All my free time I end up hanging out with friends or watching stuff on t.v. Finally it occurred to me that I get a day off for my birthday to be used anytime in October and if I took that day then there wouldn't be anything good on t.v. and all my friends would be at work. So I took it. I got to sleep for about 10 hrs., do 6 loads of laundry, put away all my cd's, do dishes, put all my commentaries and Bibles back in order, put several items that had come up for various trips this summer back into storage, and consolidate all the random papers lying around my room onto my desk. Now I've got clean clothes and a clean floor and a two feet deep stack of stuff on my desk, which becomes a project for some other time. Still I'm pretty happy with my progress yesterday. The only sad part was that I finished both my birthday Riesen and my French Silk Pie. At least I've still got the Dove dark chocolate.

Verse of the day:
"Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge,
but he who hates reproof is stupid." Proverbs 12:1 (ESV)

I'm glad you got what you wanted to do done (try saying that one five times fast!), but sad you finished most of your yummy chocolate. And I'm soooooooo envious that you got snow! Suze got snow, too! It got "cold" here today, too. A breezy 57 degrees this morning when I walked Ziggy. I saw people in sweatshirts! I was having fun laughing at all these people who have "thin" blood and think 57 degrees is cold. HAH! [sigh] I miss fall and winter temps!

With the snow, does that mean you're going to try out that mulled wine recipe? LOL! I posted it on ROUS for everyone (well, everyone who occassionally imbibes, anyway)to enjoy.

So you at least know about flylady. Her "habit" that she wants us to develop this month is taming the paper clutter. Sounds like a good time for you to start on that! Love you.

btw, the best chocolate I've had lately was a Hershey's limited edition dark chocolate kiss with coffee--I've finished a whole bag since Monday.

It's Thursday. Can we expect a new blog entry any time soon? LOL!

I'd been nice and not nagged you in a while. Figured it was time I took it back up. LOL!!!

i'm catching up on blogs and needto clean the mess that was once my room, too. There's still a bed in there, but I think the dresser might have walked off in the middle of the night--a few weeks ago. I don't even bother with flylady--i'm afraid she's encourage me to slack off even more.

Hello....
Is there anybody in there?
Just blog if you can hear me.
Is there anyone online?
Come on, now.
I hear your blogger's been down.
But just to ease our pain,
Could you get bloggin' once again?
Relax.
We'd like some information first.
Just the basic facts,
Else I'll parody another verse.
There is no pain at all to bloggin'.
It's easy all you do is type it.
You seem to blog only in waves.
We comment but there's nothing from you to read.
When I was a child I liked to read -
all about my fav'rite people.
Now I got that feeling once again.
I can't explain, you would not understand.
But this is just how I am.
I will nag you, til you update...

10 bonus points to the first person who can tell me what this terribly bad verse was supposed to be parodying...

I can tell you after reading it I am now uncomfortably numb.

I love that song :( Everett, Please blog and make her stop!

You know, I had that song in my head from playing sardines at church very early this morning. Good parody choice. Hopefully we'll blog soon. I'm getting to know my new friend, Homemade Mullet, before I take him to an '80's theme party tonight, but maybe we'll blog about the experience. Between us he's an ugly sucker.

Homemade Mullet? Yikes! I didn't know you were that Method.

Jenn-Jenn, the Mother Hen said...

You realize of course that you MUST post a picture of Homemade Mullet. I'm dying to see him... LOL!

Methinks I shall have to call you tonight to see how Homemade Mullet came about. I thought for sure you'd at least make a barber do it - or could you not find any willing to commit that sort of sacriledge?

Becca said...

Any barber worth his salt wouldn't do it. Just because it's "business in the front, party in the back" doesn't make it pretty.

Did you find an Achy Breaky t-shirt for Homemade Mullet?

Jenn-Jenn, the Mother Hen said...

Just so long as "Achy Breaky" is in rainbow colors. If he couldn't find one of those, he could've gone in a "Don't worry; be happy" t-shirt! LOL!

Everett said...

No special t-shirts. I just wore a red polo-type shirt with the collar turned up. That's about as far as I'm willing to go.

If I'd gotten a barber to do it, and I'm sure one would have, I might still have HM today. I might have kept it all week but not beyond Saturday night's halloween party. In fact, my plan was to keep it until Saturday then turn it into a mohawk which I would have shaved after church on Sunday. Unfortunately HM wasn't as cool as he would have been if he'd been done professionally or even if he'd been done by someone with clippers longer than 1/2" so off he came.
